Expressing
inner states become the stepping-stone for expressionist art. The idea of that,
"art no longer spoke for the mainstream," Bird states, suggests that
art started to become an expression of the artist unseen vision. Therefore, it
allowed for Expressionist art to allow the technique of the art become the
content. The Bridge and the Blue Rider groups emerged from this idea. Their art
expressed the inner state.
"Expressing
inner states" does not directly parallel my own work, however their
aesthetic appeal could fit in well to my big idea of distortion. The idea the
inner expresses and influences the exterior and how the distorts the beauty and
aesthetic demand. What if I had my
students make artwork as if they were members of The Bridge or Blue Rider? What
if I have my students start a journal about their dreams to get inspiration for
their artwork?
